Precious One

Last year I mentioned a neighbor here who was just sent from heaven. We used to meet at the bus stop daily. We pray together and for each other and talk about all kinds of things. The last time I mentioned her, she was the mom of 4 boys.

And now as you can imagine by this color scheme, she now has a precious baby girl. This little one came into the world with a big splash. Mom was transported to the hospital by ambulance. Of course there was a fire truck too and an emergency C-section. Needless to say there were a few anxious moments followed by lots of prayer!!!

I'm headed over to meet the precious one on Monday!

This blanket is done with rub on foil which can be found at Eureka stamps along with this Giraffe. precious one is from a Stampin' Up set. The paper is from one of Basic Grey pads.

This image is so much fun to color, I thought I would share another card. This one is for my friend who is about to give birth any day. I actually have a pink and purple one too, but it doesn't seem to want to upload today. I would fiddle with it, but not now.

Today is the last day I get to see my daughter for a while because she is going back to school tomorrow.

When working on a particular project, I always stamp few more images than I actually need, just in case. I didn't need the extra images when I was working on Christy's cards last week, but, I decided to go ahead and color these images and make cards with them anyway.

This card is for my friend who just had her fourth child and third daughter. She is one of the many "expecting" friends I made several cards a few months ago. I started coloring this while we were talking the other night and...well she needed a special card. I think this is my new favorite card. I'll be mailing it to her, hopefully today. I don't think she looks at my blog so...

Many blessings to the entire family on the occasion of the birth of Charity, little sister to Faith and Hope. ( Why didn't I think of using those names??)

One of the problems with moving, is it takes awhile to get used to where everything is, even when you finally get things put away. I couldn't find my cable to connect the camera to the computer for a day or so. When I did finally find it, the computers were occupied by people doing financial stuff and homework. Where are their priorities?


The first two cards were made especially for Christy. She only needed 6 ( I made three of each variation) so I pulled out my favorite mom and baby stamp and colored several images. I printed the baby announcement inside on the left panel so that she could write a note on the right. I purposely didn't add any dimensional embellishments because I wanted her to be able to mail them w/o having to go into the post office with the babies in tow. And while I had the stuff out, I made a couple extra announcements and thank you cards.

The rest of the cards were made with images that I colored awhile ago.
I don't remember if it was from a project that I never finished, or one where I was halfway done and decided to go a different way.

We are down to the last of the baby cards now. In this post and the next, I'll show you the baby girl cards I made before I moved. I really have to finish organizing my craft room, because I need to make some new cards!
Things are really starting to fall into place(finally). I should get my phone line connected today. There was an issue with a ground rod or wire that needed to be installed. It was and now the phone company should be back out today to finish up their part. I already have the DSL equipment, so as soon as I have the phone line, I can get back online at home.

I have more pictures ad more to talk about, but I need my computer connected to the internet to do all that. Although, I must admit, I am getting really used to this laptop. I'm going to miss it when it goes back to college. It used to take me forever to do anything w/o the computer mouse and keyboard. Hmmm, ... now I think I need a lap top...just kidding!

Baby Clotheslines

This was one of the wheels I loved from the first minute I saw it. I didn't buy it because I just didn't want to start another collection of stuff that I wouldn't use. I rarely use the normal size wheels I have and I have a few of the ink colors still unopened. I found out this wheel would be retiring this year, so I had to get it. I have two jumbo wheels now but I still didn't purchase any of the jumbo ink cartridges. The neat thing about the jumbo wheel is you can ink it up like a brayer, and cover the front of an A2 card with one revloution. (I got this tip from my SU suppliers, Jayne and Staci)
I may have to challenge myself one day to use the other wheels once I get into my new space.
I mentioned before the I had a lot of baby cards to make. I recently found out about one more.
This is for one of my friends who recently announced her pregnancy. I am sending this one to her now to congratulate her. I don't have any of those cute big belly stamps to send to moms-to-be so this one is going to have to do.

In a Nutshell

I know I mentioned before that I am really trying to get better about actually sending cards I make. For starters, I know a lot of expectant mothers right now, and one who recently gave birth (OK, it was actually 6 weeks ago, but it seems like just yesterday). I was reading another blog that mentioned she knew a lot of pregnant people too, so I know I'm not alone in this.

I figured if I make one for everybody while I'm in the baby card mode, so at least I'll have them ready when the time comes. Again, the trick is to make sure the mailman gets them. LOL
I got a start on them last night. For some reason I made girl cards and I only need one for sure. Maybe I'll send the extras in for publication?? I still need to make a couple boy baby cards and gender neutral cards. I think the last one shown below can go either way.
I have two friends due in July and in August and the parent's don't know the sex of the baby. If pink is for girls and blue is for boys, I guess I'll mix it together and make purple (wink) for both of them.
I think this last one is my favorite.

Fabriano Note Card RAKs*

The card pictured above is from Isabelle. I love her watercoloring skills and style. I want to be like Isabelle when I grow up!

The second RAK came in the form of blank Fabriano note cards from an equally talented and inspiring cardmaker, Trish. I used them to play with Both Way Blossoms since it was one of her cards that made me fall in love with the set. I liked it as soon as I saw it in the SU catalog, but seeing her card made me need it.

Oh Baby! Boy Bear

A few years ago, my husband and I had a young married Sunday School class. He did the teaching... I did everything else. (smile) I got really close to the young ladies in that class, well, we were close to all of them, and I still keep in touch with most of them. At the time the majority of them were BC ( before children) now, wow, there are quite a few babies and toddlers in the group. I'm thinking about having a reunion once we get back to Georgia.
Carla was scheduled for a C-section on Friday, and while I prayed for her surgery, I made this card to welcome Carla's baby boy.

This bear stamp is one of my new aquisitions from my stamp supplier, The Stampbuzz. The sentiment stamps are from the Oh Baby set I designed at The Stamping Studio.
Paper: The bright green and blue paper is K and Company. I bought it at Target a while back.

Tile Adoption Card

Today's mail brought a copy of the latest RubberStamper! And guess who had a card in it? OK, it was me! This issues is about Stamping for Special Situations.
For those of you who've been checking my Joyful Heart Art blog, you know I don't always get very excited about my published efforts. It really depends on how much I liked the card in the first place. I like this one.
The background: I really had fun with this background. I make the "tiles" with Bazzill Monochromatic cardstock. Here's how I do it. I cut 1 " squares with my paper trimmer. I run the folded card thru a Xyron 510 to make the card front sticky. Then I "lay the tiles" . This particular tile pattern was inspired by the background on one of the Mario Party Game Cube games. My son was a little annoyed with me as we played the game because I made him pause the screen so that I could sketch out the pattern. This particlar card is 4 x 6 ish so it takes 24 "tiles". The pattern requires 6 light tiles, 12 medium tiles, and 6 dark tiles. I used a Bazzill Trio pack because the colors were already chosen for me.
The Giraffe and Baby: is a Eureka Stamp. (giraffes are my favorite animal and this one is sooo cute) I colored them with Prismacolor pencils. Then using a 2 in 1 glue pen, I went over the blanket area and the heart shaped spot on the giraffe's backside. It takes a couple minutes to dry, going from blue when it's wet to clear when it's dry. I applied Abalone Pearl rub on foil to the now tacky areas. It's really cool looking in person.
The last element of this card is the vellum tag. This was the first time I remember actually using the Tag Maker. The adoption saying is from Hambo Stamps. *Hambo actually has a couple adoption related stamps. The tag maker tags comes with a trace and cut out template for each shape. (I wish they would make a punch to fit their shapes or make tag to fit standard size punches, but nobody asked me). Before I inserted the vellum and smooshed(technical term) the tag closed, I colored spots on the aluminum tag with gold and copper leafing pens.

Here is another baby card done with that sweet giraffe. I actually colored this one at the same time as the other one. This one features Stampin Up printed papers. The B/Baby tag is Stampin Up.
