Spring Fever Challenge Day 5

Denise of All Things Stamped says;
**Day 6 Challenge Rules** Today you get to create a monogram card with your own initials...one, two or three initials will be acceptable. 1) Make a monogram card using stamps, stickers or die cuts for the letters of the monogram 2) You must use your favorite color paper for the card base and any pattern papers 3) You must use ribbon on your card 4) You must use some sort of scallop on your card...scallop circle punch, scallop trim, I'll even accept ric rac ribbon or paper scalloped with scissors {get creative}. 4) When you post your link in the comments leave a challenge for me...now is your chance to get even and see if I can pull it off. Get creative with your challenge for me. I pretty much have almost every form of tool and accessory if that helps you think of something hard. I am up for the challenge.


So here's my card for today's challenge. I think I followed all the directions and I even managed to add in a couple of smudges as a bonus. This is my favorite purple. Stampin Up calls it Elegant Eggplant. The stamp joy is inkadinkado. It's a Christmas stamp. I just didn't ink up the Christmasy part.

Well, Denise, it's been a long but fun week. Your challenge is to color a flower, preferably a tulip with color pencils.

Spring Fever Challenge Day 2

A simple and quick card for a busy day. I finished this for Denise's Spring Fever Challenge.
Today's rules are:

1) Create a 4x4 black and white card 2) NO PATTERN papers 3) black ink only 4) Use any stamps.
I used all Hero Arts clear stamps (...hush Dawn B). I also used black pigment ink and clear embossing powder. The gems are Heidi Swap.

on a personal note:
I wish it felt like spring here. It was 27 degrees this morning. Yes in Atlanta, 27 degrees. But look, I'm not complaining... OK, I was, but I'm done now. If I remember correctly, last year this time I was buried in the snow in Michigan and I know my friends and my daughter up there got a lot of snow over the weekend. I'm thankful that it will warm up to the low 60's today.
Spring break for my kids doesn't mean I get a break, do you know what I mean? Seriously, I'm going to enjoy spending the day with my college girl today.
Tomorrow, I finally get my room painted. (the painter lost my phone number, I misplaced his...blah blah). If it wasn't the ceiling, I would do it myself. I'm really ready to get it over with. I can get to most of my stamps, but none of my favorite paper! soon....

On a personal note: I'm excited today. I just realized that my Leap Day is going to be blessed with the presence of both my college girls. One is on spring break and the other is just coming home to see her sister. I'm going to have to plan something special to take pictures of. Remember that I was going to use Leap Day to document everyday stuff in our family? I'm still going to do that so it looks like I'll have two layouts for Leap Day 2008.

I need some card therapy, so I'll be back tomorrow with a card or two or more...

Leap Year Challenge and Contest Week Three

I promise you I didn't intentionaly set out to prolong this blog candy for the sake of suspense. I wanted to end on Leap Day and I wanted to give you enough time to do a card AND I had no idea what to give away as a prize. I want the prize to be desirable and not cost me a fortune to ship. As I organize,and I come across something that fits both categories, I take a picture and add it to the pile. If you have any suggestions, send me a quick email. I think this final week will be something exclusive and maybe hand crafted? Maybe a full sheet of unmounted stamps? A gift card?

~and last but not least for this week is two handmade creations. Both of these items were made with a heavy water color paper and colored with water color pencils. The rose box is a good size for a gift card. The tulip portfolio holds a set of 10 or 12 note sized cards with envelopes. I'll have to include some of the tulip images so that you can create your own cards to fill it.

Leap Year Challenge and Contest Week 2

Here is my card using a stamp I've never used... until now. I bought this stamp (origin unknown) in 2001! The SU Thinking of You was bought a couple of years ago. I don't remember using it, but I may have.

This background was created with one of the new Cuttle Bug Embossing folders ( Distressed Lines) After I embossed and inked it, I flattened it. I ran it back thru the Big Shot, under the folder instead of in the folder.

Leap Year Challenge and Contest

I bought some new stamps last month (and again the other day), and I have great intentions of making cards with them in a few days. I'm also in clean up/reorganize mode. I don't know about you, but sometimes when I reorganize, it's like finding new treasures. I find all kinds of stuff that I haven't seen in a while. The thought occured to me that if I reorganized more, I might shop less. (smile)

Anyway, I am challenging myself to use at least one unused stamp that has been at my house for at least a year. Care to join me? Leave a comment with a link to your artwork or send me a file to my email address if you don't have a place to share it online and I'll add it to my post? As a matter of fact, let's have a contest. Use an unused stamp that you've had for a long time. Let's see who's been protecting endangered stamps the longest. Do you have one that you've had for two or three or more years? Do you even remember when you bought the stamp?

ETA: *Unused--I'm going to clarify this. As I mentioned in an earlier post, if you've used it to make an index or just stamped it on paper to see what it looks like---that doesn't count as being used. You would have had to make a card or some other completed project
