We Remember...

Seven years ago... It doesn't seem like it's been that long, but sooo much has happened since then to me and my family... and to my country.
Tragedy struck many families and therefore all of us that day. I remember exactly where I was as I'm sure many of you do. Defining moments have a way of imprinting details on our memories. What I want to talk about is not the tragedy, but the good that came from the tragedy. Do you remember the sense of solidarity we felt as Americans? There was no black or white, Democrat or Republican, rich or poor-- we were Americans and how dare they attack us like that! Remember the news footage of the many houses around the nation that flew their flags proudly? I remember seeing it in my town, too. I choose to remember, not out of hate or revenge, but of the love that was generated in the aftermath. Remember how before 9/11/2001, none of would have believed that this was even possible?

Thanks to our military and our public servants who choose to serve and protect the rest of us, we haven't had this type of tragedy again. Thank YOU!!!

Feel free to share your feelings and memories and thankfulness.

Southside Baptist Church in Warner Robins GA had Freedom Fest last weekend to honor our public servants. It was pretty awesome. They've done this for 4 years so far.

My husband had left to meet a friend and go fishing in his boat out in the Gulf. He had left the TV on, and I sat down to finish my coffee and watch ??. Suddenly the interruption - "A plane has flown into ...". Then the 2nd plane, and I watched President Bush as he heard the whispered news at a school in Sarasota. I called Ray on his cell phone, and as I told him what had happened, Airforce One flew over their boat.
Our youngest daughter phoned in tears with the words, "Is this Armageddon? Fear, shock, outrage, uncertainty, and loss of the security I had always taken so for granted.
Most of those emotions have taken a back seat to my everyday tasks and issues now. But I will never forget that day and those who lost loved ones. Soon after I bought and read "Let's Roll" by Lisa Beamer, the widdow of Todd Beamer who was instrumental in thwarting the intended crash into the Capitol Building by the 4th plane. I think I'll read it again.
